CARCAR CITY- The Department of Education (DepEd) in Region 7 has released an order to practice anti-dengue measures in all public schools after the alarming increase of dengue cases around the region.

Recent data from January to March showed a significant increase this year.

A total of 40,614 dengue cases has been reported to the Department of Health, 68% higher compared to last year’s report of 24,231.

In line with the issue, DOH Undersecretary Dr. Eric Domingo in coordination with the Division Doctor, Yvette Lawas revealed that all public schools around Region 7 will implement the “Enhanced 4S Against Dengue”.

Dr. Domingo said that the move is part of their efforts to control the rapid increase of the dengue virus and prevent the spread of infection among the learners across the region.

The 4S of “Enhanced 4S Against Dengue” stands for “Search and destroy” the breeding space of mosquitoes, “Self protection measures”, “Seek early consultation” and “Support fogging/spraying”.

In addition, Mrs. Miralyn Tellidua, representative of school heads across Region VII, stated that public schools also implied precautionary measures to students against dengue.

“Sa school namo kay among gi encourage ang mga bata na magsul ob og long sleeves niya medyas para dili jud sil mapaakan sa lamok niya magpalayo sila anang lugar nga daghang lamok( In our school, we encourage our students to wear long sleeves and socks to prevent themselves from mosquito bites and they should stay away from places where mosquitos usually stays)”, Mrs. Tellidua said.
